Student Labs
Educational and Interactive Classes for Kids and Families
School Year Labs at HMNS Sugar Land
Our interactive labs feature Museum specimens, artifacts and laboratory equipment. Students examine ancient objects, investigate technology, meet live animals or conduct scientific experiments depending on the nature of the lab booking. Each lab lasts one hour and includes admission to the Museum’s permanent exhibit halls for lab participants.
Weekday Labs
• Time: 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
• Dates: Select Thursdays and Fridays each month
• Capacity: 25 students per lab
• Three new Weekday Lab topics are available monthly.
Labs on Demand
• Time: 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
• Dates: Select Thursdays and Fridays or booked alongside your Sugar Land Field Trip
• Capacity: 25 students per lab
• Many options to suit your specific needs. Please see our Program Guide for all of the available classes.

Summer Camp 2025/Summer Programs
This isn’t your average summer camp. Against the backdrop of real dinosaur fossils, chemistry in action and a world-class institution, kids can experience a summer of education and adventure. Geared for kids ages 6-12, Summer Camps at HMNS use fun, hands-on learning and distinguished teachers to inspire the next generation of engineers and scientists. A wide range of topics from physics and coding to paleontology and forensic science are explored.

Got brain food? HMNS brings you from the world’s foremost experts like Kara Cooney, Zahi Hawass and Kathy Reichs along with HMNS curators and scientists. Our lecture partners include The Leakey Foundation, Rice University, University of Houston Law Center, The Nature Conservancy in Texas, Houston Archaeological Society and Fort Bend Archaeological Society and Rothko Chapel.
